Albert Henry Frere

Albert Henry Frere Jr, 93, died today on July 27, 2021. Mr. Frere, “The Blind Man”, was a native of New Orleans and resided in the area till death. He was a member of St Ann church for the last 50 years. In Life he was active socially as a Master Mason, Shriner and member of the Black Orchard Social Club. Militarily, he saw service as a United States Marine (Korean War) and was an active member of VFW Post 6640 for some time.
He built up an insurance brokerage firm locally in the Greater New Orleans area and retired in the late 1990’s. Lover of all games of change with a “specialty” in poker and handicapping horses, his favorite two pastime.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Maria Frere, and his two sons, Tony and Albert Frere.    
The family will receive friends and family on Saturday July 31  from 5P.M. to 6P.M. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home. A Catholic Service at 6 P.M. in the Gerard L. Schoen Chapel. He will be interred at a later date at the St Louis #3 Cemetery.
