Adrian A. McLaughlin Sr.

Adrian Antonio McLaughlin, Sr., a horticulturist, florist and landscaper died on Saturday, January 23, 2021 from complications of COVID-19 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital. He lived 85 glorious years and was an avid New Orleans Saints fan. Adrian was born in Guanaja Bay Islands, Honduras and immigrated to the United States in his early 20’s. He became a proud citizen at the age of 65. He obtained his license in horticulture and worked as a florist for E.A. Farley Florist before partnering with his friends Storm & Thaddeus (both deceased) to start a landscaping company. Adrian is preceded in death by his father Lionel McLaughlin, mother Eufemia Zelaya, stepmother Shirley McLaughlin, wife Elyria Vappie McLaughlin, son Adrian (Ace) McLaughlin, Jr., brothers Tulio Zelaya, Lalo Zelaya, Gabriel Zelaya, Lionel Zelaya, Elias Zelaya, Lionel McLaughlin and Carson McLaughlin and sisters Carlota Rivas, Sheila McLaughlin, Julia McLaughlin and Clydeen McLaughlin.

Adrian is survived by his son Elias (Lee) McLaughlin (Courtney), daughter Nerissa (Nikki) McLaughlin (Hassan), grandchildren Bryce, Janaye, Sydnee, Lara, Sherial, Mark, Kimbreion, Rachael, Kaitlin and Ethan, great grandchildren McKayla and Jakhi (Chico), sisters Nandita Zelaya, Ezaina Torres, Iris Romero (Fernando), Otilia Zelaya, Jacinta McLaughlin, Phyllis Hill, Doryet McCoy and Rosario McLaughlin. He is also survived by his best friend Arturo Bonilla (Favourite) and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. He was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by all. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 9:30-11 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son. Due to COVID-19, please practice social distancing and wear a mask.
