Sharon Ann Wendel

Sharon Ann Wendel, aged 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2024, surrounded by her family.  In 2020, she received a metastatic cancer diagnosis which she faced with courage and grace.  Beloved Aunt to Lawrence Wendel and Amy Wendel Franklin (Chris).  Sister-in-law to Winnie Wendel. Great Aunt “Auntie” to Lucy and Henry Franklin. Preceded in death by her brother, Larry Wendel, and her parents, Lawrence Martin Wendel, Sr. and Ellen Fenner Wendel.

Ms. Wendel was a 1968 graduate of St. James Major High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from LSUNO in 1973.  She worked at McMoran in the Accounting Dept. and Land Dept. before joining her brother in the family printing business.  Sharon enjoyed gardening, baking and researching genealogy on Ancestry. In her later years, she turned her love of crocheting into an Etsy shop, Hand Crochet by Sharon.

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 8, 2024, at Jacob Schoen Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St. New Orleans, La at 12:00 noon, with visitation beginning at 10:00am.  Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery #1.
