Peggy Ann Hood

May 2, 1934 ~ November 11, 2017 (age 83) 83 Years Old
Peggy Ann Hood know to most who loved her as “Mawsie” passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2017 in Metairie, Louisiana, at the age of 83. Peggy was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Metairie, Louisiana for the past 59 years. Peggy was the daughter of the late Lillie Rabalais and Vernon Ivy Hood. She is the sister of Virginia Hager, Vernon Hood (deceased) and Donald Hood (deceased). Peggy was a woman who gave everything of herself to her six children John C. Bono (Kathleen), Steve J. Bono, Frank Milazzo, Jr. (Linda), Richard M. Milazzo (Ida), Peggy M. Hughes (Tim) and Anne Marie Lopinto (Michael). She was also a loving Grandmother to Mark, Michael, Danny, Frank, Steven, Katie, Laura, Claire, Rebecca, Reagan, Kaitlyn, and Francesca and Great Grandmother to Peyton, Garrett, Ellie, Paige, Wesley, Nathan, Audrey, Collette and Caffery.
Peggy was a homemaker and a great cook! She later went into the workforce first as a restaurant manager, then a store manager and finally as an Area Sales Supervisor Crescent Distributing Co. retiring after a (20+) year career. In a newspaper article written about her accomplishments , it was quoted, “she lived the New Orleans way, she is down-to-earth, exciting and likable, in just about every way”. She was a loving and devoted mother who spent her time supporting her children in their many activities at St. Christopher School, Cleary Playground, Rummel High School and Chapelle High School. She is considered a “second mom” to many of her children’s friends because they spent almost as much time at her house as their own. She would “give you the shirt off her back” and insisted on including not only her own children in activities, but would extend the invitation to their many cousins and friends. She helped many of her own friends find meaningful employment when they needed a job and she helped the less fortunate throughout her life. She was a devoted Christian who had a special relationship with Jesus Christ, her Lord.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 12:15 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the J.
