Martha “Marty” Elaine Overman Abadie (Leggitt), age 68, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2017 at her home in Pearl River, LA. She was born December 30, 1948 in New Orleans to Earl Edward and Anna Clare (Kenner) Leggitt.
Marty attended St. Frances Cabrini Elementary, St. Joseph Academy High School and graduated from Delgado Community College. She worked for 30 years before retiring from Bellsouth. After her retirement, she worked as a tax preparer at H&R Block for the last 15 years. She was a member and former president of the Archbishop Janssens Ladies Auxiliary for the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the Women of Motion Picture Industry (WOMPI).
She was predeceased by her first husband of 10 years, Max Robert Overman and she was predeceased by her second husband of 13 years, Larry David Abadie.
She was the beloved mother of Lisa (Overman) Morrison, mother-in-law of Chad Morrison, and grandmother of Katherine Morrison. She was also survived by three step-children Brian Abadie, Vickie (Abadie) Fisher, Connie (Abadie) Garbarino and by five siblings Carl Leggitt, Gary Leggitt, Scott Leggitt, Max Leggitt, and Evelyn (Leggitt) Richardson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and step-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held on Friday September 22, 2017 at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans with interment at Greenwood Cemetery located on Canal Boulevard in New Orleans. Visitation will be held at 9:30am until the time of service at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her honor to the American Heart Association and to the American Diabetes Association.
