Marian S. Pomes age 99, peacefully entered into eternal rest while surrounded by her loving family on December 21, 2017 in Mandeville, LA, where she resided for the last 12 years. Marian was born September 22, 1918, a native of New Orleans, LA for 62 years, a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 25 years until Katrina. Marian was preceded in death by her husband Louis A. Pomes, her son Ronald A. Pomes, daughter in law Fay B. Pomes, her grandchildren Ray A. Pomes, Donna Marie Pomes, and great granddaughters Ashley Pomes and Crystal Pomes. Also preceded in death by her brother Harold James (Jay) Senior, sisters Rita Mae Hebert and Catherine (Kay) Edmiston. Marian devoted her life to her family and will be remembered by all who loved and adored her for her strength, her selflessness and her strong unwavering Catholic faith. She is survived by her sister Rose L. Taylor and life-long friend Betty Westbrook, children; Donald J. Pomes, Betty P. Thompson (Arthur), Debra P. Daigrepont (Emile) and Marybeth P. Castay (Jimmy). She was adored and cherished by her grandchildren; Jay Pomes, Louis Pomes (Cherie), Kim P. Denley (Randy), Kelly P. Uebinger (Justin), Ashley P. Wilkinson (Dave), Misty Pomes, Tammy T. Schaubhut (Robbie), Melissa T. Carter (Brady), Scott J. Thompson (Mary), Meghan D. Domangue (Scott), Emily D. Marino (Tony), Brad Daigrepont, Lindsey C. Garner (Caleb), James M. Castay (Logan).
Marian is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and 10 great- great grandchildren as well as numerous loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. She is a retired employee of South Central Bell. Her family would like to extend a special thank you and their deepest appreciation to all of her caregivers over the last several years, especially Schleta Johnson, owners and employees of Fidelis Residential Care Home and Heart of Hospice employees who helped make her final days comfortable. Marian will be deeply missed by family and friends, but will forever remain in our hearts. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass at 1:00 pm on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 316 Lafitte Street, Mandeville, LA 70448. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. JACOB SCHOEN & SON in charge of arrangements.
