Miller Spivey, age 27, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is survived by his parents John Miller Spivey and Olga Thompson Spivey, his brothers William Gray Spivey and Daniel Starr Spivey, II, and his sister Olga Wright Spivey, who Miller called, “the sweetest sister anyone could ask for.” Miller is also survived by his grandparents, Lloyd Gilmer Spivey, Jr. and Mary Smith “Ebbie” Spivey, William Puffer Thompson, Sr., and Rebecca Allen Thompson. A host of Miller’s aunts, uncles, and cousins also remain to celebrate and carry on the memory of his life. After graduating from Belhaven College in 2016 Miller joined his father’s business, Spivey & Company, in New Orleans as a Business Analyst for the company’s healthcare technology division. Miller quickly endowed himself to his co-workers where he enjoyed the support, admiration, and love of the entire staff, as well as the unspeakable joy of a father watching his son follow in his business footsteps. Miller was a beacon of light to all who knew him. He was blessed with a heart of kindness and concern for friends and strangers alike. He also had an especially tender heart for animals. He was quick to draw a smile or laugh from all those in his presence. He never failed to warm the souls of those he encountered. He was unselfish to his core and served those in need without hesitation. Those who knew him best never doubted his unconditional love and support.
Visitation will be at First Presbyterian Church, 1390 North State Street, Jackson, Mississippi on Saturday, September 2, 2017 between 9:00 – 10:45 AM. A memorial service will follow in the church at 11:00 AM. Miller’s remains will be sprinkled “at the cabin” in Bentonia, Mississippi during a gathering for family following the service.
