John Pierre Portie, passed away peacefully at his home in New Orleans on June 4, 2017 at the age of 69 years. John was preceded in death by his parents, Armand and Marian Portie and brother Gary Paul Portie. John was born June 9, 1947 in New Orleans. He attended Holy Cross High School and LSUNO. He became a Pastor with the 7th Day Adventist Church after attending and graduating from the Southwest 7th Day Adventist College. John is survived by sister Nancy Portie Vallaire (Warren) along with nieces, Elizabeth, Angela, Amanda, and great nephew Taylor. He had numerous friends and other relatives. John spent many years in the Mid City area where he worked for Rogers and Associates Accounting Firm. Visitation will be at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA from 11am-12pm on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. John will be interred in St. Roch #2 Cemetery following the visitation.
