Icy Lucille Harper D'Angelo (Mama D.), age 99, preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas "Coach Tom" D'Angelo, passed peacefully on August 12, 2017.  A native of Haynesville, Louisiana, she was born to Addie Heard and Ardis Clinton Harper.  She is preceded in her death by her three sisters and two brothers, and she is survived by four brothers.  She moved to New Orleans as a young woman and met the man who would help her start a journey of a lifetime.  Although she was primarily Irish, she embraced the Italian family of her husband and learned the Sicilian traditions. Their five children completed their lives.  Mariana Evans, Rosary Lucille D'Angelo, Frank D'Angelo, Thomas D'Angelo, and Elaine Ardeneaux.  In their fifty years together, they added the wonderful spouses of the children:  Bill, Linda (deceased), Jeannie, and Ed.  They were also blessed with sixteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  A special thank you to her daughter Mariana and her granddaughter Lucille Ann Daigrepont in giving Mama D an amazing quality of life in her home for the last five years.  In the end, Mama D's mind was as sharp as a younger woman as the countless visitors to her porch can attest. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at 12:15 PM in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, August 16, 2017. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. and continue until Mass time.
