Georganne Schmidt Clotworthy, a native of New Orleans, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2017 at 93 years of age. She is survived by her beloved husband Hubert Clotworthy, Jr., to whom she was married for 72 years, two sons, John O. (Laura) and Robert C. (Jeannine) Clotworthy, six grandchildren, Corinne Turner, Jason Clotworthy (deceased), Robert, Richard, Colin and Laurie Clotworthy and five great grandchildren, Jack and Luke Turner and Robin, Harper, and Oliver Clotworthy. She was predeceased by her parents Henry Schmidt and Caroline Kneiper, her eldest son, Richard Hubert, grandson Jason Clotworthy, and her uncle Octave M. and aunt Anna K. Smith, the later two having helped raise her, her sister Dorothy and brothers Henry, Lionel and Charles. She graduated from John McDonough High School, where she received the American Legion Award, and from Newcomb College in 1944. She did substitute teaching in junior and senior high schools in New Orleans, Houma and New Iberia. She loved teaching as long as it wasn’t math. She was a member of Spring and Twig Garden Club and the Couples Group. She loved to travel. She was a very generous and caring person and loved everyone. She always had a smile on her face and will be sorely missed. The family would like to thank her many caretakers at Lambeth House, especially Kendra Ackerman, where she received wonderful care. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Lambeth House Foundation or your favorite charity. Relatives and friends ae invited to attend a service at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 21, 2017 in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Interment will be in Hope Mausoleum. A reception will immediately follow at the Lambeth House, 150 Broadway Street, New Orleans, LA 70118.
