Donald Vincent Hebert

Donald Vincent Hebert passed away peacefully on the evening of August 26 in Mandeville, Louisiana, at the age of 90. A native of Houma, Louisiana, Donald served his country dutifully in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He received a degree in geology from Southwestern Louisiana Institute, now University of Louisiana at Lafayette, and spent his career working as a petroleum engineer and eventually as an executive in the oil & gas industry. He lived the majority of his life in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana, first in the town of Pointe-à-la-Hache and then Braithwaite. Relatives and friends fondly remember his generous spirit, commitment to faith and family, and resilient nature. He was preceded in death by his loving spouse of 60 years, Pauline Cossé Hebert, and daughter-in-law, Caroline Ruest Hebert. Survivors include his son, Wayne G. Hebert, grandchildren Michele Oelking (Matthew), Nicole Juneau (Luke), Jacques Hebert (Graham Gremore), sister Barbara Malbrough (Anthony), and brother Jules Hebert (Frances). He is survived by 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends. Services will be held Thursday August 31 at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral mass at 12:15 p.m.
