Dell William Ferguson, age 75, departed this life on Friday, January 19, 2018. Dell was born October 6, 1942 in Laurens Iowa, where he grew up, graduating from Laurens High School. He acquired a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and an MBA from the University of Iowa. He had a long, successful career with Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) and Alumax Aluminum, the last assignment being in Frederick, Maryland. He later moved to Slidell, LA and was most recently a resident of Tyler, TX. He is survived by his wife, Trudy Cyrus Ferguson; his children Paul Ferguson (Michelle) of Adel, IA and Tricia Griffing (Ronnie) of Brandon MS; his grandchildren Kyle and Zachary Ferguson and Tyler, Morgan and Seth Griffing; siblings Marlene (Art) Umbrell of Laurens, IA, Gerald (Sylvia) Ferguson of Tipton, IA and sister-in-law Myrna Joenks Ferguson of Johnston, IA. He is also survived by step-children Laura (Raymond) Keeley of Forney, TX, Michael (Mary) Caballero of Chalmette, LA and Michelle (Richard) Boyd of Arabi, LA; grandchildren Chris (Carla) Keeley, Kelsea Keeley, Blake Caballero and Blair Caballero. He also leaves behind 3 great-grandchildren Gabriel, Lillian and Benjamin Keeley and his faithful companion and pet, Jazzy. He was preceded in death by parents Gerald and Lois Ferguson, siblings Sharon Bruechert and Harlan Conway Ferguson and grandchild Chase Naquin. “Poppa” Dell was a kind and loving family man whose memory will be cherished.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to celebrate Dell’s life and attend a memorial service at the Gerard L. Schoen, Jr. Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 3827 Canal St. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery No. 3.
