Carolyn Louise Dempsey Serio peacefully transitioned into her eternal rest Monday evening, October 16, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in New Orleans on December 5, 1929 to the late John Sylvester Dempsey, Third District Fire Chief of the New Orleans Fire Department and the late Carolyn Chourreau Dempsey. Carolyn was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a dedicated Catholic. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Frank Joseph Serio, by her parents John and Carolyn Dempsey, her aunts, Gerardine Dempsey and Louise Chourreau, by her beloved sister, Mrs. June Fiegel and brother-in-law, Julian Fiegel. Granddaughter of the late Joseph M. Dempsey, Sr. and Louise Luhring, and the late John A. Chourreau and Caroline Steudlein. She is survived by her children Carol Ann Serio, Frank Gerard Serio (Katherine “Jackie”), Kenneth Gerard Serio (Debbie), and Lisa Ann Serio. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher Bardes, Daniel Bardes (Jessica), Sean Bardes (Renee), Jeffrey Bardes, Courtney Serio, Stephen Serio, Matthew Serio (Daphne), Brandi Serio, Maria Elizabeth Miano, and Katherine Michelle Miano; as well as great grandchildren, Spencer Bardes, Reagan Bardes, and Jathan Boudreaux. A native of New Orleans and resident of Mandeville, La. for the past 17 years. She is also survived by Suzanne S. Ruiz and Spencer Suggs, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends.
Visitation will be held at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 on Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:00a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the J.
