Dr. James H Miller ("Jay"), 80, died Monday, March 11, 2024. A proud native of Dunedin Florida, Jay lived in New Orleans proper for the past 20 years. He received an undergraduate degree from Tulane University and obtained Master’s and Doctoral degrees from the University of New Orleans. Jay was an active member of Christ Church Cathedral, an Air Force veteran, avid traveler and marathoner. He was an accomplished and dedicated educator, devoting his career to teaching students from grade school to college. Jay truly loved life, had a positive “it is what it is” outlook, and was known for his wonderful sense of humor and mischief. He loved his wife Linda of 56 years, his children, grandchildren, family, friends, colleagues, and cat Angus. Preceded in death by his parents James H Miller, Jr and Mary Joyce Miller, and brother Christopher Robert Miller. Survived by his wife Linda, two daughters Andrea Riganti and Amy Martinez (Vennie), son James Miller (Lesley), grandchildren Evan and Celeste Riganti, Ally Martinez, and Christopher, Elizabeth and Matthew Miller, and sister Marcia. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 19, 10:00 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral, 2919 Saint Charles Ave, New Orleans, LA 70115, with interment to follow.
